Do You Feel A Spiritual Void?

is there a "need" on your part to regain some form of spirtuality?

at this point in time, do you not want to hear anything about god, the bible, jesus, buddah, etc.?????

are you still "searching"?

Actually I think that the org had it close to right about organized religion being sectarian, and missing the purpose for which Christ died. The only problem was that they failed to include themselves in that assessment!

I would like to find a group of believers in the Bible and what it says (maybe a house church where reading the Bible is the key thing). I crave the association - but I am trying to follow Ray's good advise and be patient. I think that to jump back into religion for me woulf be the wrong way to go. I do not judge others for doing that. I would be tempted to try a church with a small attendence that just showed true love for one another and de-emphasized doctrine as the key to life. I think that the key to life is accepting the sacrifice of Christ and obediently imitating his love.

since we were indoctrinated that those leaving the organiztion had their lives turn into sh*t until they "returned to jehovah (the organization), how would you say things have turned out--so far?

I agree with all the above. Also, I have noticed that the whole world really does not have it's eyes glued to the witnesses and what they do. Most certainly, they do not feel that actions by one of JW's 'brings reproach on God's name'. In th JW world we are taught to think that all the world is against us - most of the world in reality just pays little attention to Jw's- they do not view them as 'the light of the world'. What a narrow focus we had - tunnel vision.

Also we have not all become drunken, demon-worshipping, orgy lovers, that drink blood and rape by the full moon! Imagine that -

Watchtower Television Advertisement

we had the c/o meeting this week and he confirmed on the platform that the watchtower is "experimenting" with television add's in the usa.

he also said that they are on 'community' television and are free.

anyone ever seen them?

Right after the molestation issue started to get publicity on the internet they ran an ad showing a little girl on a chat-line - on the other end was an obvious deviate pretending to be a young friend - then the parents saw what was happening and 'saved' the child from serious problems. The subliminal was - Look we are doing our part to protect children, it is safe among Jehovah's witnesses. Come join us. - what they didn't say was 'in the pedophile paradise we have created' with our 1300 BC thinking of community.

You DON'T Have To Listen To The Elders If They Say They Want To Meet ....

everyone that is in the process of leaving dreads the thought of having the elders approach them, call them, etc.

the fact is----just because they say they want to meet with you or just because 2 elders stop by to visit you----you don't have to deal with them at all.

simply tell them you won't meet with them, you won't talk to them.

The same is usually true if, for a time you did not attend meetings, then show up. I think the showing up shows that legally you have accepted the organization again. I believe that both of those points are made in the Elders's handbook - although I haven't looked lately.

In my case - I sent an email after hearing the gossip that I was borderline 'apostate', to an elder. I mentioned that there were laws against slander - since no charges had been made -and even if they were, the local brothers should have no inside info - and they did. After that I am shunned - but the elders so far have left me alone.

There is NO annual service report in the Janaury 1st WT

well, i have confirmed rumors that have gone around about there being no annual service report for the january 1st, 2005 issue.. .

it seems, for reasons unknown, that the watchtower has ended another decades long tradition.

in the second study article for the january 1st, 2005 watchtower, entitled, "trained to give a thorough witness," paragraph 24 reads: .

back when I was 'having doubts' about the organization, I used to watch the numbers - a few years back the annual growth was between 5-6% - last year just 2.2% - I think they will start jiggling the numbers somehow so that the slow down is not noticiable to the unintelligent - they did that on the official site - there is no growth in percentage or comparison to previous years like we always see in the WT report - that might be it - Jeff

gdt - 500,000 - that seems a bit high - we have never seen that many in a year have we? or are you tongue in cheek? last year was only up 141,000 I think... Page 20 of the Foreword the New World Bible Translation Committee says in the second paragraph: "To avoid overstepping the bounds of a translator into the field of exegesis, we have tried to be most cautious about rendering the divine name, always carefully considering the Hebrew Scriptures. We have looked for some agreement with us by the Hebrew versions we consulted to confirm our own rendering.

I have always thought this most curious - the same statement appears in the forward to the Interlinear, and in the NWT appendix. Or substance.

'To avoid overstepping the bounds of a translator into the field of exegesis'... then immediatly they do just that. They quit 'translating', which is the art of taking a specific document in one language and rendering it into another, and start doctrinizing by insertion of thoughts (or names) that did not appear in the document to be translated. This is just ludricrous. Perhaps it is also blasphemy against God -this I do not know. But if I wrote a book and someone claimed to 'translate', but added or changed what I said, I would not consider it translation, but 'interpretation'.

It is dishonest to claim translation, when it is really indoctrination! No wonder that on most lists of Bible translations the NWT does not even merit mention. But it is an effective mind control tool - which I fear is precisely what Fredrick had in mind!

On becoming a (shunned) person...

as i walked back from the bank to my car yesterday i saw an elder and his wife from my old, old congregation.

i waved, but they didn't see me.

they entered their car, backed up and i stood exactly two feet away from their window smiling and waving.

I have experienced similar. I have never even been talked to by the elders. We have elected to 'fade out' if they let us. I had a 'sister' stand 3 feet away in a coffee shop for 10 minutes and refuse to even acknowledge my presence.

I wonder - since gossip is a disfellowshipping offense - how she found out I had 'apostate' thinking anyway? Certainly the Pharassies would not have said anything to her?

I have determined that the next time it happens I will make a scene. I will let everyone in the area know that this rude person is a witness, and how shocked I am at the treatment. That should make a little trouble for the next dub to the door - !

What kind of Curcuit Overseers visited your congregation?

thinking about the co's i have encountered over the years.....it went something like this:.

) brother sleeparound: took up with a young pioneer sister on a visit to the congregation.

his wife did not approve..

One that actually became my friend at the time was Stephen Lett - the Gov Body Member. He was quite kind and I enjoyed his visits. But in later years as I got more cynical, I always called the 'Circus Overseer Visits' since the elders put on such a show.

I always enjoyed the show as they kissed a--. Especially when the CO and DO visited the same week!!
